Dear FutureMe,
You turned 29 10 days ago… but you were not really sure what to say then. I hope this helps.
Present me is grateful. I am here now, slowly building the life of my dreams. The to do list gets longer, the dreams get bigger, and the future becomes more and more unpredictable. But you’re here.
In the past year alone you came out to your family… they still love you. You kissed a girl at a wedding, it’s probably not going anywhere but my word what an affirmation. You brought your friends together for your birthday, you danced into the night, cried in gratitude. So wipe that feeling of loneliness you (probably) feel today (cause you almost always do), and know that you are indeed loved. At 29 You may not have romantic love (yet) but you are loved. And even if the same is true at 30, remember love comes in all forms and is around you, but more importantly- YOU ARE LOVE.
You are loveable. Believe that. Love yourself - be in your life. All the cliches are true.
So, at 30 (I am making sure you get this on your 30th), please tell me something:
1. Do we have a PhD now?
2. Are we in (romantic) love?
3. Did we make new friends?
4. Did we start that company?
5. Did we write one of those 2 books?
But more importantly: ARE YOU HAPPY?!
Please tell me you are, because that is the most important thing!
I love you, I am proud of you.
With all my love,
An overthinking past you
